Prison Information

There are 2 Prisons in Leavenworth Kansas. Both house only male inmates.

The United States Penitentiary: A medium-security, all-male facility.

United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth: “The USDB is the U.S. military's only maximum-security facility and houses male service members convicted at court-martial for violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Only enlisted prisoners with sentences over seven years, commissioned officers, and prisoners convicted of offenses related to national security are confined to the USDB. Enlisted prisoners with sentences under seven years are housed in smaller facilities, such as the Regional Correctional Facility at Fort Knox, Kentucky or the Marine Corps Brig at Quantico, Virginia.

I spoke to someone who had visited the USDB recently and described the uniforms for men as 2 piece kkaki pants and shirts. The shirt is like a scrubs top with a v-neck pocket. It is made of a heavier material. I'm am working on confirming this.

Naval Consolidated Brig, Miramar: Located in San Diego. This is the Department of Defense's only prison for women.

There are also a number of Federal Prisons that have Super Max wings for the most dangerous offenders.

Given that the Leavenworth prisons are all male will Salt still be kept there at the end? I'm looking into women's prison attire for these super max prisons now.
