BEAT SHEET # 6 FOR SALT FREEWAY SEQUENCE – ALBANY
Script dated January 3 2009
Salt being pursued by Peabody and two Secret service Agents exits the Smithsonian Museum and races across the street into a building close by. She runs through the building up to a window on the other side and opens, Peabody arrives with his gun drawn and tells her to freeze, she is trapped.
Salt turns to Peabody. Salt and Peabody have their dialogue (page 37) (Play all the dialogue INSIDE the building!)
At the end of the dialogue salt suddenly turns and opens the glass doors and bursts out onto the patio, Peabody fires shattering the two glass doors. Salt sprints across the patio and launches herself into space, we reveal a Highway emerging two floors below coming out through the bottom of the building with traffic roaring along it. Peabody fires (I think the bullet should graze her cheek and ear causing disfiguration to her ear and cheek) and rushes forwards ready to fire again and he sees Salt land on the trailer of a passing Semi truck and she staggers and rolls to the back just hanging on. Peabody is about to fire again when salt and her transport disappear under another overpass.
Salt rides the top of the semi out towards the Potomac and then the truck takes a curve to the right and heads towards an exit. Up ahead Salt sees a roadblock being put in place, thinking quickly she leaps across the divider to a passing traffic lane below her which is heading away from the roadblock, she lands just managing to grab the side of a trailer and she drops down dragging along the road beside the trailer. (We have to look at trailers & loads to find a flat bed with a load that suits this action). Salt manages to climb back up to the top of the trailer/load.
She continues over the river when this truck heads down to the lower level. Salt sees another roadblock being formed up ahead on this road so she “Surfs” from the left hand lane across the traffic lanes from vehicle to vehicle to the right hand lane that is a curving exit off the freeway she finishes by leaping onto the ladder on the back of an RV and she climbs up onto the roof.
As the road straightens out Salt realises that she is heading right back towards Peabody and the two Secret Service men. Peabody and Co are on the overpass above her and they draw their weapons and take aim down at the approaching Salt.
Salt rips the skylight off the RV and drops inside. The driver is humming away to (very loudly played) music with his earphones on completely oblivious to Salt landing behind him. The RV continues beneath Peabody and he loses sight of it as it continues along the Freeway. We cut to the exit slip road at L’Enfant Plaza in Washington with the RV approaching. Inside the RV it is all quite save for the music humming driver, Salt kicks open the door of the RV and bails out bouncing in the road amongst the traffic. Cars crash, swerve and skid around her as she rolls along the road and a high-powered motorcycle slides along on its side with sparks grinding out from beneath it. Salt regains her feet and without missing a beat grabs the still sliding motorcycle and pulls it upright and leaps aboard and smoking the tires she roars away cutting left down some steps and through a narrow alleyway out onto a wide Washington Boulevard.
We finish with a high shot of the motorcycle blasting around and through the traffic with the Capitol Building in the background.
