President of Russia’s motorcade vehicle

In the past the Russians would bring their own Zil limousine whenever they traveled. The President has now upgraded to a Mercedes limousine but has given up traveling the car and accepts the use of Secret Service vehicles.

The vehicle would be a regular, retrofitted Cadillac limousine retrofitted for security purposes. There would be no seal but they would fly the Russian flag on the front. This car would be driven by a Secret Service driver with the Secret Service Detail Leader in the right front seat.

There is a strong level of cooperation between the US and Russian security details in a situation like this. Even though the Secret Service insists on driving and taking the front right seat there are 6 seats in back which can be used by Russian Security.

There is also always a spare limousine that rides sometimes in front of the protectee and sometimes in back. The Russian Detail leader and other Russian security persons might ride in this if the seats in the President’s limo are needed for staff.

The Secret Service also controls the doors of the car. They will however wait until the Russian Detail Leader is there and is ready to open the door.

If a World Leader wants to use it’s own driver and security the Secret Service insists on the same deal they get when they travel the US President abroad.

White House Emergency Response Vehicles

There are three groups that would respond to an emergency in the White House. Each has it’s own territory.

Looking at the White House from the North Grounds the division breaks down as follows:

Lafayette Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President's_Park) is protected by the PARK POLICE.

The Street in front o the White House is protected by the WASHINGTON DC METROPOLITAN POLICE.

The fence around the White House and grounds inside are protected by the UNIFORMED DIVISION of the US SECRET SERVICE.

White House security vehicles have the Presidential Seal on the door as well as a Secret Service Seal.

Emergency Response Vehicles at GW

Both US SECRET SERVICE and WASHINGTON DC METROPOLITAN POLICE VEHICLES would be seen here.

In general the Secret Service is supposed to alert the Metropolitan Police if they are moving but if there’s an emergency they will likely just go and not wait to coordinate the effort.
