Women & Children in Soviet Union & Video Clips

A link to a FLICKR group called "My Happy Soviet Childhood": A whole grab bag of images.

A few more videos:

This girl and her song seems to be remembered fondly by people w/Soviet childhoods, especially the boys:

Russian Children's Choir:

Translation of song:

Let them run
Stepping over the puddles,
And the water will flow like a river.
And it's not clear to the passers-by
On this unweatherable day,
Why I'm so happy.

I play my accordion,
In the view of the passers-by...
Unfortunately, a birthday
Is only once a year.

Suddenly a wizard flies in
In a light blue helicopter
And shows a movie for free.
He's stopping by for the birthday
And he'll probably leave
Me a present of 500 Eskimo bars.

A schoolgirl dances to a song on TV: Not so interesting on it's own but the girl is wearing what seems to have been a traditional schoolgirl uniform in Soviet times.

A Soviet children's cartoon: Little Fox goes with his grandpa back in time and frees a butterfly that grandpa let die as a boy. The moral is "anything is possible." What shouldn't be possible are evil and cruelty.

Another popular kids cartoon: This one has very stereotyped African characters with singing and dancing animals.
